Steam Me Visible (2024)

In this workshop, participants learn the basics of working with a steam distiller to produce distillate (organic matter in water) and co-create a unique distillate through their contributions.

Participants are invited to bring a small object or a piece of a larger object made of organic or natural material (e.g., a plant, food, 100% cotton sock), no larger than 1 x 3 inches, that carries a smell evoking a sense of belonging—or the absence of it—for them. Together, we create a unique blend of all participants’ objects and associated feelings in the form of a distillate (hydrosol).

This workshop was part of the opening of Atmospheres of Belonging (2023-) in November 2024 at the Media and Immersive eXperience (MIX) Center (ASU), Mesa, Arizona
